Two axes in one low-voltage drive

The MCAC620-2X is a dual-axis integrated servo drive powered by 24-60 VDC with a maximum output current of 40 A across the two channels. Combining two axes in one unit raises power density and frees cabinet space on robotics and inspection cells where every enclosure module counts.

Real-world applications

On gantry robots the two channels drive the X and Y axes, and the wiring-free gantry control with alarm linkage keeps both carriages in step without extra interconnects or a redundant motion controller. In semiconductor equipment the drive handles the short-stroke wafer and die transfer axes that move at high frequency and need µs-level coordinated response. Medical instrumentation uses dual-channel positioning for sample transports and optics stages, while packaging machines link the two axes for synchronized pushers and flap folders. On inspection cells, 6 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs handle vision-triggered moves and clamp feedback directly at the drive, cutting PLC I/O load.

Control performance

A 625 kHz current-loop sampling rate with three selectable PWM frequencies lets the drive match the switching profile to the connected motor. The software supports wiring-free gantry control with alarm linkage, so paired axes stay in step without extra interconnects.

Feedback and tuning

An absolute encoder reports rotor position, removing the homing run on restart. Single-parameter stiffness setting, one-click auto-tuning, automatic vibration and resonance suppression, and one-click resonance detection cut commissioning time on unfamiliar mechanics.

  • Supply power: 24-60 VDC

  • I/O: 6 DI, 4 DO
  • Feedback: absolute encoder
  • Interfaces: Type-C, RS485

Engineering and operating notes

Because the drive runs on a low-voltage bus, keep the supply regulated within 24-60 VDC and size the upstream cable for the 40 A peak draw to avoid voltage sag on simultaneous axis motion. The absolute feedback removes home-switch wiring on multi-axis cells, saving both parts and commissioning time. Program and diagnose everything over the single Type-C/USB link or RS485, useful on the bench and in the field. Protection covers overvoltage, undervoltage, overspeed and overload, so the drive shuts down cleanly rather than damaging motors during a jam.
