The EtherCAT closed loop Stepper Drive 2HSS86HC-EC is a fieldbus drive that combines a 32-bit ARM processor with a power-angle closed loop control algorithm. It operates from 48-110 VDC or 24-70 VAC and delivers an output current from 0 to 6.8 A, making it a fit for compact CNC machines and automated cells that want the torque stability of encoder feedback without the cost of a servo axis.

Why closed loop Control Matters

Torque Through the Mid and High Speed Range

closed loop operation improves motor torque at medium and high speeds compared with open-loop stepping. Because the drive reads rotor position and corrects the excitation in real time, the axis stays synchronized with the commanded profile under varying load, which in some applications lets the drive substitute for a servo drive.

Predictable Position Holding

With encoder feedback, missed-step excursions that produce scrap parts on cyclic machinery are largely eliminated, giving the machine a repeatable position reference cycle after cycle.

Operator Interface

A built-in keypad and digital tube display allow direct setting of slave ID, baud rate, rotation direction, and related parameters without a PC. Commissioning on the factory floor is fast, and field troubleshooting does not require opening a software tool.

I/O and Signals

The drive provides 5 digital inputs for homing reference, forward and reverse limit switches, and probe function. Three digital signals are available for brake control, alarm, and in-position indication, so the host PLC can react to machine events without extra interface hardware.
