The iRSS60-36-20-17BC-RC/EC is a 2.0 N·m Integrated Stepper Motor offered as a ready-to-install axis for multi-station machinery. It is the lightest-torque member of the 60 mm iRSS-R/RC/EC fieldbus range, rated at 2.0 N·m holding torque from a 36 VDC bus at 5.0 A, and it packages the drive, motor, RS485/CAN/EtherCAT fieldbus, and a 17-bit absolute encoder in one body. For a distributor supporting machine builders, this means a single orderable part replaces the usual motor-plus-drive pair, with fewer cables, fewer connectors, and one fewer configuration step per axis.
When every axis is a self-contained unit, the control cabinet no longer grows with each additional motion axis. The design eliminates the shielded power cable between driver and motor, removes one failure point per axis, and shortens commissioning time because drive parameters travel with the motor as a stocked assembly. This is a practical fit for machines with many small axes in the 2 N·m class.
RS485, CAN, and EtherCAT interfaces let the axis connect to whatever network the plant already uses. On EtherCAT, units run in synchronized cycles; on RS485 or CAN, they share the bus with other devices. The closed loop executes on board, so the external controller issues motion commands instead of step pulses.
The 17-bit absolute encoder delivers fine position resolution and retains the shaft position when power is removed, so axes restart without homing. Real-time correction of step error is valuable in fast indexing where an open-loop motor would risk losing steps.
Packaging machinery, industrial automation, precision robotic mechanisms, textile and printing machinery, food processing, automated handling, and battery-equipment positioning cells all fall within the envelope of this unit. The 2.0 N·m torque handles light conveying, indexing, and short-stroke positioning duties, and the compact body keeps the axis footprint small on dense machine layouts.
Verify the 36 VDC supply and keep bus cable lengths within the fieldbus specification. Thermal management is part of the axis design because the drive heats the frame; provide airflow or a metal mounting path.
