The iESSL60-36-30-17BC-RC is a 3.0 N·m closed loop Stepper Motor with 5.0 A phase current and a 17-bit absolute encoder, communicating over RS485+CAN. The driver is integrated into the 60 mm frame, which reduces cabinet space and motor cabling, and the unit is supplied as a complete axis for packaging and automation lines. It is the serial-bus counterpart to the EtherCAT variant in the iESSL range.

Serial Bus Control

RS485 and CAN give the machine builder flexibility in wiring topology. Units are addressed on the bus, and motion commands plus status feedback travel over the same two-wire network, so a multi-axis machine needs only one control connection per axis.

Position Integrity

closed loop control with the 17-bit absolute encoder keeps the axis on target under load changes and eliminates missed-step errors that would otherwise go undetected until the next reference move.

Specifications

  • Frame size: 60 mm
  • Holding torque: 3.0 N·m
  • Supply voltage: 36 VDC
  • Rated current: 5.0 A
  • Fieldbus: RS485 + CAN
  • Encoder: 17-bit absolute
  • Control: closed loop

Duty and Mounting

Static holding torque is 3.0 N·m; continuous output is limited by frame temperature and cycle rate. Mount the flange to the machine structure so the frame can conduct heat, and avoid enclosing the motor in an insulated pocket. For continuous production runs, calculate the duty cycle from the torque-speed curve and adjust the cycle rate if the frame temperature rises above the datasheet limit.

Applications

  • Industrial automation
  • Packaging machinery
  • Robotics
  • CNC machine tools
  • Control: closed loop

The RS485 and CAN physical layers share the same compact housing, so one part number covers both wiring styles across a production line.

Selection and Setup Notes

When setting up the bus, assign a unique address to each unit, set the baud rate to match the master, and use proper bus termination at the ends of the segment. For mixed networks with both RS485 and CAN devices, plan the physical layers separately. Contact Lyenwsin for the protocol documentation and multi-axis configuration guide.
