The iESSL60-36-35-17BC-RC is an RS485+CAN closed loop Stepper Motor with 3.5 N·m holding torque, 5.0 A phase current, and a 17-bit absolute encoder, supplied in a 60 mm frame with the drive integrated. It is the serial-bus variant of the 60 mm closed loop family for machines that do not run EtherCAT, and it serves controllers that use either the RS485 physical layer or a CAN network.

RS485 and CAN on One Device

Both RS485 and CAN are available on this unit, so the same part can serve controllers that use either physical layer. Multi-axis topologies are wired as a daisy chain or bus segment, and each unit is addressed individually.

Feedback and Position

The closed loop uses the 17-bit absolute encoder to hold position against load variation. At power-up the axis knows its rotor position, avoiding the reference run that open-loop steppers need after an unexpected stop.
