The iESSL60-36-35-17BC-EC is an EtherCAT closed loop Stepper Motor with 3.5 N·m holding torque, a 5.0 A phase current, and a 17-bit absolute encoder in a 60 mm frame. This variant communicates exclusively over EtherCAT, which makes it straightforward to add to an existing EtherCAT motion network. The drive is integrated into the motor body, so the axis is installed as a single unit with one bus connection and one DC supply.
With only EtherCAT on board, the network configuration is predictable: one bus interface, one set of object dictionary entries, no address conflicts with a second protocol. That simplifies commissioning on machines that already standardize on EtherCAT, and diagnostics are read through the standard EtherCAT interface.
The closed loop, fed by the 17-bit absolute encoder, corrects step loss in real time. The absolute position also removes the homing sequence after power-on, which reduces restart time on production equipment.
3.5 N·m static holding torque gives headroom for medium loads with modest acceleration. Because the drive is on the motor, the only field wiring is the DC supply and the EtherCAT cable, keeping the panel free of per-axis drives. When multiple units share one EtherCAT segment, the single-bus design keeps commissioning simple and reduces the risk of address conflicts.
Before commissioning, load the ESI file into the EtherCAT master and confirm the distributed-clock settings for synchronized motion. Keep the 60 mm frame mounted to a metal surface for heat transfer, and size the 36 VDC supply for the total current of all axes on the segment.
