• 24-48 VDC supply voltage , max 4.2 A output current
• Pulse/Dir; CW/CCW Pulse Mode
• Low noise and vibration, smooth motion
• Overcurrent , overvoltage , undervoltage protection
The 2DM542 is a 48V 2-Phase Stepper Drive designed for 24-48 VDC supplies with a maximum phase output of 4.2 A. It is sized for machines that run moderate-load axes where a compact driver and conservative power budget are sufficient. As an open-loop two-phase drive, it positions each axis by commanded steps, keeping system cost and complexity low.
The drive accepts Pulse/Dir and CW/CCW command formats from a host controller. Because it uses standard pulse interfaces, it can be dropped into existing systems that already generate step and direction signals, without changing the motion controller or the wiring plan.
Low noise and low vibration are maintained across the speed range. For industrial automation cells and food processing lines that operate continuously, quieter motion also means lower mechanical wear in transmissions and bearings, which reduces unplanned maintenance.
Applications include Industrial Automation, packaging machinery, compact CNC equipment, robotics, automated handling mechanisms, textile machinery, printing machinery, and food processing equipment. The 48 V input pairs well with standard DIN-rail power supplies, making cabinet design predictable.
Overcurrent, overvoltage, and undervoltage protection keep the output stage and motor safe during wiring faults, brownouts, and short-duration overloads. The undervoltage channel is useful on 24 VDC panels that share a supply with contactors and other inductive loads. Plan for a short pulse-train response when the host controller issues rapid direction changes, and keep the step rate within the controller’s output capability. On food processing and washdown lines, mount the drive away from direct spray and keep the enclosure sealed to protect the terminals. For operators upgrading from a smaller drive, the 4.2 A ceiling gives useful headroom without requiring a larger panel footprint. When several low-voltage axes share one bus, add a per-drive fuse so a single short circuit does not isolate the whole machine.
