EtherCAT 5.6A Stepper Drive for 48 V Cabinets

The 2DM556-EC is an EtherCAT 5.6A Stepper Drive running on 24-48 VDC with a 0-5.6 A output stage. Distributed by Lyenwsin to OEMs and system integrators, it brings step axes onto a synchronized industrial network, reducing the per-axis wiring and discrete motion controllers common in older panels.

Speed, Torque, and Microstepping Balance

Motor-control algorithms smooth low-speed operation while retaining torque at higher step rates. Microstepping is customizable, so the resolution can be raised on precision axes or relaxed for higher feed rate on fast, non-critical moves.

Discrete I/O and commissioning

Five digital inputs cover home, limit, and probe signals; two digital outputs drive brake, alarm, and in-position outputs. RJ45 ports ease daisy-chaining, while a keypad and digital display set slave ID, baud rate, and direction and give live status.

Key Specifications

  • Supply voltage: 24-48 VDC
  • Output current: 0-5.6 A
  • Fieldbus: EtherCAT
  • Digital inputs: 5
  • Digital outputs: 2
  • Microstepping: customizable
  • Protection: phase loss, overcurrent, overvoltage, disconnection

Typical Machine Installations

The drive serves factory automation, packaging machinery, compact CNC equipment, robotics, automated handling, textile, printing, and food processing. Typical roles include synchronized wrapper stations, registration rollers, tool changers, and conveyor indexes that must track a master clock over the bus.

Integration Notes

Match the 5.6 A stage to the motor nameplate

Check the motor’s rated current against the drive output before wiring. A motor rated well below 5.6 A will run fine, but setting the drive current to the motor rating avoids unnecessary heat.

Plan the supply rail

Keep the axis on a 24-48 VDC bus and confirm the power supply can source the current during acceleration peaks without sagging. If you are unsure how to size the cabinet supply, Lyenwsin’s application support can review the motion profile with you.

The five digital inputs and two digital outputs give the axis a complete machine interface, so sensors and actuators can be wired directly to the drive rather than through a separate remote I/O module. This reduces both cost and wiring time on machines where each axis needs only a few signals.
