The 2DM880-RC is an RS485 CANopen 8A Stepper Drive designed for step axes that must join an industrial bus without reworking the motor side of the machine. Available through Lyenwsin, the unit runs on a 24-70 VDC or 48-110 VDC supply and outputs 0-8.0 A, so it can push larger NEMA step motors while speaking two of the most widely deployed fieldbuses in factory automation.
Supporting both RS485 and CANopen lets the drive join multi-vendor control architectures instead of forcing one fieldbus standard on the plant. This is a practical advantage on retrofit jobs where the machine controller already uses CANopen and the power wiring stays as-is.
Because the communication and the current stage are independent, the same 8 A output serves either RS485 multi-drop links or CANopen nodes. Machine builders can standardize on one drive part number across lines that still use different bus masters, simplifying spares and documentation.
Typical installations are step axes already on a bus or being converted from pulse/relay control:
24-70 VDC suits moderate-speed NEMA 23 axes; 48-110 VDC extends high-speed torque for NEMA 34 class motors. Verify the motor’s voltage and current ratings before setting the output.
Five digital inputs handle home, limit, and probe signals; two outputs drive brake, alarm, and in-position. Slave ID, baud rate, and direction are set from the keypad and digital display, and RJ45 connectors keep the wiring neat.
