The 110J12190EC-17BC-SC is a NEMA 42 closed-loop stepper motor with a factory-fitted brake. It produces 20 N·m holding torque from a 190 mm body, combining the torque of the non-brake variant with load-holding capability for safety-critical axes.
Closed-loop feedback prevents lost steps during motion, but it cannot hold a de-energized load. The integrated brake covers that case: when power is cut, the brake engages and the axis stays put. This matters for vertical spindles, gantries, and any axis subject to gravity when idle.
The integrated 17-bit encoder gives fine position resolution, which translates to smoother low-speed rotation and more consistent final positioning. The drive compares actual and commanded position continuously, so transient overloads are corrected rather than accumulated as error.
CNC machine tools, packaging machinery, and precision robotic mechanisms where a vertical or gravity-loaded axis must hold position without continuous power. Factory automation cells use it to eliminate separate pneumatic or mechanical locking devices. Heavy load CNC axis feeds and rotary table indexing benefit from the fail-safe brake.
