The 86J12156EC-17BC is a 3-phase closed-loop stepper in a NEMA 34 frame, rated 3.0 A per phase with 7.8 N.m holding torque on a 14 mm shaft, in a 156 mm body. Three-phase excitation gives it a smoother torque curve than 2-phase equivalents, with lower vibration at moderate speeds.
The integrated 17-bit encoder gives the drive continuous knowledge of rotor position. Commanded and measured positions are compared on every cycle, and any step loss is corrected in real time. In textile and packaging lines that run continuously, this removes the drift that open-loop steppers can accumulate under varying web tension and friction.
Holding torque is specified at standstill with rated current. Running torque falls as speed rises because the winding builds current more slowly. The 3.0 A rating keeps heat low relative to the torque produced, and closed-loop current reduction during idle further limits temperature rise.
The motor serves CNC machine tools, packaging machinery, factory automation, precision robotic mechanisms, textile and printing machinery, food processing, and automated handling mechanisms.
