RS485 and CANopen in a Digital-Display closed loop Drive

The 6.8A CANopen closed loop Stepper Drive 2HCS868H-RC is the RS485-and-CANopen member of the digital-display closed loop stepper family, delivering 6.8 A of output current from a 24-70 VAC or 48-110 VDC supply. Built on a 32-bit ARM core, it uses a power-angle closed loop algorithm to hold torque at medium and high speeds, giving an open-loop-style axis the stability of encoder feedback at a lower cost than a servo.

RS485 and CANopen on the Bus

Two Fieldbuses, One Drive

Both legacy fieldbuses are supported, so the drive joins existing plants that still run CANopen for its robustness or RS485 for simple point-to-point links. Multiple drives can share one bus and be addressed by the host controller.

Field-Confirmed Torque

Because the loop is closed, the axis holds its commanded position even as load and speed change, which is exactly the behavior cyclic handling machinery depends on.

Setup Without a PC

The front keypad pairs with a digital tube display to adjust slave ID, baud rate, and rotation direction locally. This makes first power-up and field troubleshooting straightforward.

Terminal and Protection Layout

  • 5 digital inputs for homing reference, forward/reverse limits, and probe function
  • 3 digital signals for brake control, alarm, and in-position indication
  • Output current 0-6.8 A across 24-70 VAC or 48-110 VDC
  • RS485 and CANopen fieldbus ports

Applications

The drive fits factory automation, packaging machinery, compact CNC equipment, robotics, automated handling mechanisms, textile machinery, printing machinery, and food processing. For plants standardized on CANopen, it provides a closed loop axis with useful current headroom and a clear, code-free setup path.

Operational Notes

On lines where several drives share one CANopen bus, assign each node a unique ID during commissioning and confirm the baud rate matches the master. The digital inputs give the controller a clean homing and limit scheme, so safety wiring is kept inside the standard I/O set rather than added as a custom interface.

Distributor Support

Lyenwsin supplies the 6.8A CANopen closed loop Stepper Drive with bus addressing and supply planning support, helping the axis join the plant network cleanly.
