• Length 48 mm
• Holding torque 0.5 N·m
• Rated current 1.5 A
• Frame size 42 mm
• 1000P/R incremental encoder
• Low heat generation, low vibration, fast acceleration
The iHSS42-24-05 is the slimmest variant in this closed-loop grouping, with a 42 mm frame and 48 mm stack length. Driver and motor share the same housing, and a 1000P/R incremental encoder provides continuous position feedback. For lightly loaded axes the closed-loop architecture removes the margin that open-loop drives must leave for missed steps, so the motor can be run closer to its rated capability.
This unit delivers 0.5 N·m holding torque on a 1.5 A phase current. At these low currents the integrated drive keeps copper losses modest, and the encoder-driven commutation reduces the low-speed torque ripple and vibration that are common in small open-loop steppers. Acceleration is brisk for a mechanism of its size because the rotor inertia is low.
Operators should treat the 0.5 N·m figure as the holding capability; running torque available at speed will be lower and should be confirmed against the application’s duty cycle.
The iHSS42-24-05 suits compact axes where wiring a separate drive is impractical and where closed-loop assurance of position is worth more than the last few percent of torque.
