The iESS86-80-120-17BC-RC/EC is a 12 N·m closed loop Stepper Motor in an 86 mm frame, the highest-torque unit in this integrated range. Rated at 6.0 A on an 80 VDC bus, it combines a 17-bit absolute encoder with RS485+CAN or EtherCAT fieldbus, all in one body. For heavy-duty axes that would normally require a separate drive in its own cabinet, this unit keeps the drive on the motor without giving up load capacity.
Torque in the 12 N·m range normally requires a separate drive with its own cabinet. This model keeps the drive on the motor, so heavy-duty axes gain the benefit of integrated construction while retaining the torque needed for ball-screw feed axes, rotary tables, and large gantry mechanisms.
The 80 VDC supply allows higher phase voltage, which supports faster step rates and better torque at speed. The 6.0 A current rating and 12 N·m holding torque define the static capability; usable torque at speed is read from the torque-speed curve.
RS485+CAN and EtherCAT variants are available. The 17-bit absolute encoder provides rotor position at power-up, so a heavy table or arm does not need a homing move after a restart.
At 6.0 A the windings generate significant heat during continuous duty. Bolt the 86 mm flange to a substantial metal surface and keep the housing clear so the closed loop can operate at rated torque for sustained periods.
