The 5.8A EtherCAT closed loop Stepper Drive 2HCS558-EC is a digital-display closed loop stepper drive sized for EtherCAT machines running on a 24-48 VDC bus. At its core is a 32-bit ARM processor executing a power-angle closed loop algorithm that keeps torque available as speed rises. Output current reaches 5.8 A, which covers a practical range of compact stepper motors used in the mid-dynamic segment.
A 24-48 VDC input keeps the drive compatible with modern control cabinets that already distribute DC power. The wide span also allows the same unit to be reused where a plant standardizes on either 24 V or 48 V rails.
EtherCAT connects the axis to a deterministic bus, so coordinated multi-axis moves stay in phase. Procedure steps such as homing and in-position reporting are handled through the drive’s I/O, while the network carries only the motion commands.
The closed loop algorithm maintains torque where conventional open-loop drives fade, giving indexers and diverters a repeatable position reference across the shift.
Slave ID, baud rate, and rotation direction are set from the keypad and digital tube display, removing the need to open software for basic commissioning.
