Heavy axes usually mean a big external driver and a deep control cabinet. The iHSS86-80-120-RC/EC avoids that by integrating the drive onto an 86 mm motor and closing the position loop with a 1000 P/R closed loop Stepper Motor architecture that corrects step loss in real time. With 12 N·m of holding torque, this unit targets machines that need serious force without sacrificing panel space.
The 1000 P/R incremental encoder feeds actual rotor position back to the drive on every control cycle. Unlike an open-loop stepper, which trusts the step count, this unit detects and corrects errors as they happen. The trade-off is that incremental feedback does not know absolute position at power-up, so the machine must run a reference or homing move after each start. Equipment that already has end switches or proximity sensors will not find this an extra burden.
Delivering 12 N·m from an 86 mm integrated package lets heavy axes run without a separate drive cabinet. The 80 VDC bus and 6.0 A phase rating support the currents needed to reach this torque while retaining speed performance. This is especially useful on retrofit projects where the control cabinet is already full.
RS485+CAN and EtherCAT variants are available. Motion commands, diagnostics, and tuning parameters all travel over the selected bus, so the machine controller manages the axis without pulse/direction wiring. EtherCAT suits synchronized multi-axis systems, while RS485 and CAN cover simpler standalone lines.
Continuous torque is limited by frame temperature. Provide a solid metal heat path from the 86 mm flange and keep the housing ventilated. The incremental encoder depends on a clean signal, so follow the recommended cable routing to avoid interference from motor power lines.
CNC machine tools, packaging machinery, robotics, and factory automation lines are the primary deployment areas for this model. Contact Lyenwsin for the torque-speed curve, encoder signal specifications, and wiring diagrams before you finalize the machine layout.
