The 42J1848EC-1000-LS-SCG is the shortest NEMA17 closed-loop stepper motor in this series, with a 48 mm body and an integrated brake. Holding torque is 0.5 N·m at 1.5 A phase current, on a 5 mm shaft, with a built-in 1,000 P/R encoder. It is designed for instruments where envelope, mass and low vibration matter more than torque.
The 1,000 P/R integrated encoder gives the drive real-time rotor position. Closed-loop control suppresses the low-speed resonance and step loss that limit open-loop small steppers, which matters in optical and laboratory stages where a lost step ruins a measurement or a scan.
The integrated brake locks the shaft on power loss. Semiconductor wafer handlers, medical sample feeders and inspection stages use this to keep the load stationary between operations and during transport.
Suited to semiconductor equipment, medical equipment, laboratory equipment, optical equipment, 3D printers, inspection equipment, pump systems and factory automation. The low 1.5 A current reduces the thermal load inside enclosed instruments.
Keep the 5 mm shaft within its rated radial load; use a flexible coupling for direct drive. When setting up closed loop, confirm encoder direction and home position before enabling the loop. This motor performs best in light, high-accuracy motion chains.
