The 86J1895EC-1000-LS-SCG is a 2-phase closed-loop stepper motor in a NEMA34 frame with an integrated holding brake. The motor delivers 7.5 N·m holding torque at a 6.0 A phase current, which makes it one of the higher-torque options in the 86 mm class. A 14 mm shaft and 95 mm body length give it the stiffness expected from an axis drive in medium-sized machinery.

Integrated 1,000 P/R encoder and closed-loop control

An integrated 1,000 P/R incremental encoder provides continuous rotor position feedback. In closed-loop operation the drive corrects position error on every step, so the motor holds position without losing steps under varying load. Unlike an open-loop stepper, it does not require a large torque margin simply to avoid stall; the feedback loop lets the axis work closer to its rated torque while the brake covers stationary loads.

Holding brake for vertical and safety-critical axes

The built-in brake holds the rotor when the drive is de-energized. This is the deciding factor for vertical axes on gantries and elevators, where a dropped load is not acceptable. Brake engagement is automatic on power loss, so the axis does not drift when the machine cycles or shuts down.

Thermal behavior and mounting

Closed-loop operation reduces continuous heat build-up compared to oversized open-loop drives running near stall. Mount the motor to a flat, thermally conductive surface, keep the brake wiring away from the phase wiring, and follow the derating guidance in the datasheet if the ambient exceeds 40 °C.
