The iESSH60-36-30-17BC-RC/EC is a 60 mm closed loop Stepper Motor with the drive stage built into the motor housing. Rated at 3.0 N·m holding torque on a 36 VDC bus at 5.0 A, it carries a 17-bit absolute encoder and RS485/CAN or EtherCAT fieldbus, and it is supplied as a single unit rather than a motor-driver pair. For automation suppliers, this packaging removes the need for a separate cabinet, long motor cables, and additional EMC filtering between driver and motor on the machine.

What the 17-Bit Absolute Encoder Changes

Because rotor position is known at power-up, the axis does not need a homing cycle after a restart. That shortens machine recovery time after power loss and simplifies commissioning when several axes must be synchronized.

Fieldbus: RS485+CAN or EtherCAT

This model is supplied with either RS485+CAN or EtherCAT communication. Setpoints, status, and closed loop tuning parameters are transferred over the bus, so the drive can be adjusted remotely instead of opening the panel.

Specifications

  • Frame size: 60 mm
  • Holding torque: 3.0 N·m
  • Supply voltage: 36 VDC
  • Rated current: 5.0 A
  • Fieldbus: RS485 + CAN / EtherCAT
  • Encoder: 17-bit absolute

Thermal and Mechanical Notes

The 3.0 N·m figure is static holding torque; usable continuous torque depends on the mounting surface, ambient temperature, and duty cycle. Keep the 60 mm frame surface free of insulation and allow airflow around the housing. The compact structure keeps vibration low at medium and low speeds, which benefits precision positioning.

Applications

  • Industrial automation
  • Packaging machinery
  • Robotics
  • CNC machine tools

Selection Considerations

When sizing this axis, compare the static 3.0 N·m figure against the peak torque your mechanism demands during acceleration, and check the torque-speed curve for the speed range you plan to run. If the load profile includes frequent direction reversals, the closed loop holds position through the torque transient better than an open-loop stepper of the same frame size.
